The wild and ghostly Cathy Earnshaw taps at the bedroom window desperate to be admitted to Wuthering Heights but inside is not her beloved Heathcliffe but a visitor who rebuffs her pleas to come in. The love affair is not resolved until she and Heathcliffe are reunited in death in the churchyard.
